2022 Album Fictional Festival Series: Progressive Rock Festival

I previously introduced this new series, which is a spinoff of the previous Fictional Festival series, one only featuring artists who released albums in 2022.  This post discusses a lineup for a progressive rock and experimental rock lineup, though it also incorporates other genres.  For more information about the series in general, please see this post.

In this festival, I gave longer sets to several artists on the main stage, as many acts in these genres have longer songs.  There is also a special side stage on each day:  on Friday it is a technical death metal stage, Saturday has a math rock stage, and Sunday has an industrial stage.

After I finalized this lineup, 3 acts either broke up or cancelled their tours, so I replaced them with a note.  Two headliners had to be replaced, which would normally be a catastrophe for a festival, but one was replaced because I missed the fact that they were taking a break from touring (if these were actual festivals, a team would have done a better job of research than I would have) and another is likely no longer touring after 2023, which was when I initially created this lineup.

*Revocation is replacing Fleshgod Apocalypse, who was a hiatus during this stretch, though it was not largely made public until later due to an injury to a then-member.

**Epica is replacing Nightwish, who has taken a break from touring for a few years.

***Jethro Tull is replacing Porcupine Tree, who announced that 2023 will likely be their last tour.  While I originally created this lineup during their tour in 2023, I still replace them since I’m releasing this after their tour.
