2022 Album Fictional Festival Series: Rap Festival

I previously introduced this new series, which is a spinoff of the previous Fictional Festival series, one only featuring artists who released albums in 2022.  This post discusses a lineup for a rap/hip hop festival.  For more information about the series in general, please see this post.

I did not account for beefs when determining the lineup.  Further, this lineup was completed in 2023, and does not account for an ongoing feud that involves several artists, centered around two of the headliners for this festival (go figure).  As such, I would not have booked the Friday headliner had I been creating this lineup this year.

2025 Riot Fest Lineup Prediction

This year, I decided to create a Riot Fest prediction lineup for fun.  I made it based on a combination of acts who are likely and some other acts who make sense.  I tried to choose acts that would make sense with the budget, though the first few names on Friday and Saturday might be pushing it a bit to have all of them.  I’m not sure how many are going to be on each day, so I went with 30 on Friday and Sunday and 33 on Saturday (there are normally a few more acts on Saturday).  In the last few years, they have had bigger headliners on Friday and Sunday while there is a smaller headliner (or co-headliners) on Saturday.  I feel confident about the Friday and Sunday headliners, though less so about the Saturday one.   Friday Blink-182 Vampire Weekend Weird Al Yankovich Pulp Alkaline Trio Rilo Kiley 4 Non Blondes Franz Ferdinand Fountains of Wayne Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine Hot Water Music Afroman The Sound of Animals Fighting Propagand...

2021 Album Fictional Festival Series Introduction

In the past, I have done a series that I called the Fictional Festival series where I made festival lineups for fictional festivals of different genres that I created.  I thought it would be fun to bring back this series with a twist:  releasing festival lineups with only artists who released albums in 2021.  I originally conceived this as artists who released an album since the start of the pandemic, but I decided that wasn’t fair since Covid hit different locations at different points, so I stuck with just 2021.  The logic behind this is that often artists will tour to support an album, so I considered artists who released studio albums, compilation albums, EPs, live albums, select re-release albums, and more.  I didn’t consider artists who released singles but no albums because it is not as common for an artist to tour to support the release of a single.
