2021 Album Fictional Festival Series: Extreme Metal Festival

I previously introduced this new series, which is a spinoff of previous Fictional Festival series, one only featuring artists who released albums in 2021.  This is the newest post in the series is a lineup, a festival set up to be a metal festival.  In contrast with the hard rock/metal festival, this one focuses on various forms of extreme metal with some additional metal subgenres.  For more information about the series in general, please see this post.

2025 Riot Fest Lineup Prediction

This year, I decided to create a Riot Fest prediction lineup for fun.  I made it based on a combination of acts who are likely and some other acts who make sense.  I tried to choose acts that would make sense with the budget, though the first few names on Friday and Saturday might be pushing it a bit to have all of them.  I’m not sure how many are going to be on each day, so I went with 30 on Friday and Sunday and 33 on Saturday (there are normally a few more acts on Saturday).  In the last few years, they have had bigger headliners on Friday and Sunday while there is a smaller headliner (or co-headliners) on Saturday.  I feel confident about the Friday and Sunday headliners, though less so about the Saturday one.   Friday Blink-182 Vampire Weekend Weird Al Yankovich Pulp Alkaline Trio Rilo Kiley 4 Non Blondes Franz Ferdinand Fountains of Wayne Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine Hot Water Music Afroman The Sound of Animals Fighting Propagand...

10 Songs that Saved My Life

Recently, the members of U2 released what they called the 10 songs that saved their lives to coincide with the release of their single “Your Song Saved My Life” from Sing 2 .  Since I thought it would be a fun idea for a blog post, I copied the idea and compiled my own list of 10 songs.  While some would try to associate songs with life experiences, I honestly am unable to do that, so I mostly (with one exception) determined this list based on songs that were essential to my musical life.  The first 9 are listed in order that I believe I heard them, though there might be some minor errors in the order.  While it was difficult for me since I had around 70 songs I seriously considered, I chose 10 songs that I think are most important in my life.   “Piano Man”, Billy Joel I tend to doubt that many people remember or can easily identify the first song they ever heard.   I am in the same boat there, though I do have a different sort of memory where I remem...
