Unpopular Opinions

In any topic, there tends to be a list of views that are too outlandish, controversial, or even blasphemous to say.  While there are many views in which there is a reason for this, a lot of times in entertainment these views are just outright unpopular.  I have a few of these types of views and I thought it would be fun to discuss for the blog.  I did not include anything that I find unjustifiable (I don’t think I have any of those opinions related to music).  I also did not have any opinions saying that one genre or subgenre is better than another because that is entirely subjective.   While not necessarily a direct influence on the genre, Billy Joel could inadvertently be considered a pre-emo musician. This opinion isn’t particularly unpopular but rather not discussed.   While Emo music largely emerged from hardcore punk and post-hardcore, the lyrics tend to be emotional and are associated with teenage angst.   In particular, the Wikipedia page...

Reunited Artists’ Festivals

After Coronavirus decimated the 2020 concert scene, there is tepid optimism that concerts and festivals will resume in the coming year or two.  Whenever they do resume, there will be festivals that will try to make a grand return, and several will try to include artists who have recently reunited (or are reunited).  In this post, I considered several artists who have reunited in 2018 or later or are reuniting once concerts can resume and speculate what festivals they might perform.  In this exercise, I assumed that festivals would resume at the start of 2021; in reality, I do not expect this will happen and am uncertain if they will occur in 2021 at all.  I omitted artists who have confirmed that a reunion was/will be a one-off performance.  Due to the number of artists and festivals I included, I did not discuss most festivals in depth.  If you find a festival being listed with an artist you like, I recommend looking more into the festival if you aren’t fa...
